Jaap Siekman

Business advisor, project management professional—Jaap has extensive management experience in engineering, product development and manufacturing in a variety of industries, ranging from submarines & trains, steelmaking & hydrogen purification, to fluorescent lighting and architectural glass structures, including running his own import company.

The last 4 years he worked as a government funding specialist, educating Canadian SME’s and start-ups about the myriad of programs that support R&D, Product Development and international growth. Recent highlights include his presentations at start-up incubators such SFU’s Venture Connections & Venture Labs, McGill University (Montreal) and VIATEC (Victoria). He is an independent representative for NorthBridge, a national consultancy firm assisting companies with SR&ED claims and Grant applications.

As a Business Advisor, Jaap enjoys working with people and facilitate communication between multiple stakeholders in order to improve operational processes and successfully execute projects. He has a great interest in advisory and project management roles related to initiatives with an environmental and social impact.

Jaap has a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Delft in The Netherlands, is a registered Professional Engineer (PEng) in BC, and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Jaap is married to his wife Iris. Although born and raised in Canada, their 2 children decided to retrace their parent’s steps and are both studying in The Netherlands.
